What you need to know about David Wortman and his photographic services…

I have been a potter for 25 years with a MFA in ceramics from Tulane University. My undergraduate degree was in Commercial Photography. I studied at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and got my BFA from Santa Barbara Art Institute where I was the studio assistant in the photography department. I have been shooting slides for myself since the beginning and now am offering my services as a photographer to other artists and craftsmen.

I shoot primarily in very high quality digital. In talking to prospective clients I have heard some misunderstanding about digital photography. There are good film cameras, and cheap ones. Good photo labs and not so good labs. The same can be said for digital. You should not be able to tell how I recorded the image of your art work. Both systems can give very high quality output, both can produce junk. What is important is the play of light on your artwork, not the way it is recorded. I can shoot film also for an additional charge.

Included in my basic show application package are slides for projection made from the digital files, both Tiff and JPG files on disk formatted to match 35mm aspect ratio, and images ready to upload to the Zapp system. I include directions for ordering additional slides from the provided files, or I can do it for you at an additional charge. There is no additional charge for a disk, or preparation of the digital files, or to prepare for the upload to the Zapp system.

I offer a package that is geared towards WholesaleCrafts.com members that gives a very good price for larger numbers of images with files already sized to upload to the artist page.

If you have old slides you like, or really hate, please send them with the work with a note what works for you or would like to see differently.

Please clean your work before shipment and put a sticker on the work to indicate the front.

If the work is shipped to us we will reuse the packing material in returning the work to you. Please keep this in mind when choosing packing material and boxes.

All computer screens are calibrated differently. I can recommend color management hardware to calibrate your screen. David Wortman Photography is not responsible for perceived differences in the color temperature of digital photos. The client is responsible for color management of images.

Payment is expected when the job is finished and before the return of the artwork. Payments by credit card or check are both acceptable.

Please also visit www.WortmanPottery.com, or my artist page, artist 22624, at WholesaleCrafts.com to see more samples of my work.

Please call (337) 873-8584 or email if you have any questions.
